Description

An Art Director is the champion of visuals and the driving force behind the look and emotion a project. The Art Director captures and echoes the needs of a project’s visuals, gathering the creative strengths of a wide range of artists to deliver the highest quality. An Art Director harnesses quality among developers and gamers alike. The workload of an Art Director will vary by project needs, but in general, the Art Director will be the main point of contact for art, inspirational leader, and creative force behind a very talented art team. 

Having this role, you will: 

  • Direct multiple art teams both internally and externally  
  • Participate in high to low-level decisions for vision and pipeline 
  • Provide direction for all disciplines of art 
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure art needs are met 
  • Follow project priorities to ensure the goals are met  
  • Review and provide feedback at high and low levels of detail 
  • Give accurate estimates for workloads and set expectations of quality 
  • Manage and drive delivery schedule with Producers 
  • Take part in project planning 
  • Talk with external partners and bridge needs across studios 

We expect: 

  • 3+ years of art leadership experience 
  • Knowledge of all disciplines in game development art 
  • Practical skills at a professional level in at least 3 disciplines of art 
  • Mastery of at least 1 discipline within game development art 
  • Very strong knowledge of game development cycles and development needs 
  • Able to work low level on tasks with art teams if needed 
  • Providing very clear, articulated, and actionable feedback to team 
  • Very good English with the ability to communicate with external groups 
  • Driven and able to manage self   
  • Someone who can drive, control, and maintain quality bar of art team output 
  • Someone up to date with current art trends, skills, technology, and techniques in the industry 

Nice to have, but not required:  

  • AAA Experience on at least one Console or PC title 
  • Experience in working with version control systems (e.g. Perforce, Git) 
  • Experience in using test management tools (e.g. JIRA, Testrail) 
  • Experience in working in Unreal Engine and UE blueprints
